Spring Vacation to Canyonland NP via the Voodoo Fire

Joanne, our friend Jeffrey, and myself took off for Canyonlands National Park for another catered mountain bike vacation to the Maze district.  One of the more remote places in the lower 48.

We took a longer route to Moab, via Pueblo to do the Voodoo Fire mountain bike race on Saturday.

Race day was cold and windy, which would be the the theme for most of the trip.

The trails for the race were fun and we have decided we will definitely go back for more riding in a non-race environment.
After the race, we found a cool irish pub in Pueblo for a late lunch / early dinner to unwind and tell tales of the race to each other.
On Sunday a week ago, we took off from Pueblo, CO over Monarch Pass to Montrose,  CO.  Then to Grand Junction for a quick shoping trip at REI (Tom we love your company!  Keep up the good work!) and then finally looping into Moab, UT to hook up with Lowry and Colleen.
We were all jazed to do another catered trip into Canyonland NP, but it definitely looked like the weather would be more challenging this time.

Visit to Mesa

I went last weekend for a quick trip to Mesa, Arizona to see my family.
Eating out at Chile's!
A lot of visiting time hanging on on the back porch, and trying out my Dad's pelet gun.  :)
Enjoying Marla, Kevin, and Jordy's new front landing.
And mountain bikeing with Todd!
Cactus, single track, and two snakes - whooo yah!
It got up to 97 deg!  It was a pretty big change from Colorado where the highs do not even get to Phoenix's lows.

Great trip!  Fun visiting, chasing Jordy, and riding in the sun!

A Visit from Mitch

My close friend from high school days, Mitch came to visit for a day.  I am very lucky that work brings him to Denver every once and a while.  He conviently stayed over for Saturday which allowed for a fun walk in the morning for a breakfast bagel!

Then a nice hike up North Table Mesa above Golden, and back to the Golden Hotel patio over Clear Creek for lunch!
I even managed to get a picture of TWO people who hate their picture taken!

Mitch was my inspiration in High School for trying to go to college.  He even loaned me money one semester while I was at the tail end of Mines.

After I graduated from Mines and got back from playing Army, Mitch was driving truck to earn money for law school.  He would occaisionaly get a haul out of Golden hauling Coor's beer.  Of course this was pre-cell phone and I would only know when he was in town when I came home and saw a semi parked on the street.

Today reminded me of those days, about 25 years ago now, ouch - where does the time go!   :)
